project: To create a timber framed new home of contemporary design in a rural setting.

Our client commissioned a modern timber frame home of approximately 5000 sq.ft. which was required to provide open, spacious accommodation, whilst maximising the energy savings of current building techniques. The timber frame was designed and provided by Scandia Hus Ltd. The roof was laid in hand made tiles and the walls faced with Michelmersh bricks to reflect the rural setting of this new home.

Following the completion of the foundations and ground floor the timber frame was completed and weatherproof within three weeks. This allowed work on the interior finishes and fittings to commence whilst the exterior brickwork and roofing continued. By ensuring that sufficient skilled craftsmen were available on site it was possible to complete the project within the target of 33 weeks.
